Scouting Report

Strengths

• Defensive understanding and ability to rotate on defense. His lateral quickness and length gives him the ability to guard 1 on 1 and to switch on defense. Might be the only player who can defend 1-5.

• Ability to block shots without fouling in different defensive situations. He can protect the rim in transition, help side defender, and as the main rim protector in a half court set.

• Great hands on defense. He does a good job playing the passing lane and poking the ball when players are driving to the rim.

• Efficiency from the field without having plays designed for him. Able to score in many different forms(cutting, rolling and popping, making hook shots, also able to make floaters).

• High and compact release on jumper. Able to space the floor for his team. Shoots 41% from the field when unguarded during catch and shoot situations. Shoots 38.8% when guarded from the 3 in catch and shoot situation

• Great finisher above the rim. Has the ability to be a lob threat. Also ran the floor well and was a great finisher in transition.

Weaknesses

• He needs to improve on tightening his ball-handling. Will allow him to get to the rim better with the ball and to get to his shot better.

• Decision making can be better. Struggle making the right passes and often look to score first.

• Struggle finishing at the rim. Not good at finishing with his left hand.  Converted 44.7%  on layups at UCF.

• Improve drives to the basket with strong finishes

• Add muscle to the frame to help finishing and post defense.

Summary

Hendricks is a dynamic stretch four who can do so many things for your team on both ends. As a non-primary scorer, Hendricks possesses all of the intangibles needed for success in this role. Offball he is able to be a cutter, he can score from the dunker spot, and also space the floor for his team. On ball he can drive and make floaters, finish at the rim, and also get to his pull up mid range. He isnt best with the ball in his hands but does show some skill for a player his size. Once he gets better with dribbling and getting to his shot better, he can be a legit offensive threat. On defense, he might be the top 3 best all around defenders. He had the ability to guard 1-5. He showed he can defend guards and forwards. With his length and quickness, he makes it hard for opposing players to get to their shots. He is also a threat with his rim protection. His help side rip protection is elite and does a good job running in transition to stop easy points at the rim. I think he has the potential to be one of the best forwards in the draft and has the tools to be an all star one day.
