Pace Academy 2021-2022 Team Preview

With the start of the 2021-2022 High School season just days away, we thought it would be a good idea to highlight Pace Academy. Pace is coming off Back-to-Back State Championships 20 & 21, led by 9x State Champ at both Miller Grove (7x) and Pace Academy (2x) along with a USAB Gold Medal this past summer, Head Coach Sharman White.

Speaking with Coach White at media day, he expressed his excitement to coach this team, which has outstanding Junior and Senior leadership along with some very talented underclassmen.

Now, let's highlight a few players who we expect to impact a Pace Academy team looking to 3peat this season.

Josh Reed - 6'6 - Senior - Small Forward

The recent Cincinnati commit seems ready to lead his team on both ends of the floor. Josh brings a wealth of experience back to his team after back-to-back state championships, coupled with his mature style of play, where he never forces shots and is always in the right spot; he will undoubtedly carry the load. Boasting a consistent jump-shot, the ability to create for himself & teammates, along with the ability to defend multiple positions, Josh seems ready for the spotlight.

Matt Aronson - 6'2 - Senior - Shooting Guard

Matt is a senior returning off back-to-back state championships. He has shown significant improvement every year, and his role has grown with that improvement. He is a knock-down shooter behind the 3pt line and likes to get after it on the defensive end.

Buck Hall - 5'8 - Senior - Point Guard

Buck is a senior returning off back-to-back state championships. He sees the floor well and looks to drive and kick to get his teammates involved. His unselfish play and leadership make him a valuable assist to the

Kendall Evans - 6'4 - Junior - Guard/Wing

Kendall is a dual-sport athlete, currently a wide receiver on the Pace Academy Football team. Over the summer, he picked up some interest from Georgia State after an impressive travel ball season. Once he returns to the basketball court, he will bring a smooth shooting stroke from the perimeter, length, athleticism, and toughness.

Davis Rice - 6'2 - Junior - Combo Guard

Davis is a dual-sport athlete as well, currently a strong safety on the Pace Academy Football team, where he leads the team in interceptions. Davis is all about energy & effort on the basketball court. His ability to impact to game on both offense & defense using his athleticism and a high motor will be relied upon for Pace to make a deep run this season.

LJ Moore - 6'6 - Sophmore - Small Forward

LJ is entering this season with loads of confidence after gaining valuable experience on last year's state championship team. Look for the versatile wing to knock down shots from the perimeter, fill the lanes in transition and use his length to disrupt ball-handlers and passing lanes.

Kyle Greene - 6'2 - Sophmore - Point Guard

Kyle is one of the most exciting sophomore point guards in the state; he currently holds offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, LSU, Ole Miss, and North Carolina A&T. His ability to create his own shot off the bounce, along with a solid jump-shot from the perimeter. Look for him to carve out a role and make a significant impact on a very good team.

Eric Chatfield - 5'10 - Freshman - Point Guard

Eric is a heady point guard with a great feel for the game, he can set up teammates, get into the lane and knock down 3pt shots off the catch. Look for the young pg to find a niche on this deep Pace team.

Bryson Tiller - 6'7 - Freshman - Small Forward

Bryson is a prototypical small forward with the ability to defend multiple positions on the defensive end, using his size and length. He can put it on the floor on the offensive end, shoot it from the perimeter, and get it off the glass to lead the break. The highly touted freshman holds offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Tulane, and Cleveland State currently but look for the list to grow pretty fast over the season.

Pace Academy opens its 2021-2022 basketball season Wednesday November 10, 2021 vs. North Atlanta. We here at Between The Lines Sports are excited to see how the season plays out.

Until next time...
