Season Outlook - Boston College Eagles

Updated: 6 days ago

As the 2025/2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Season, has officially tipped-off, we're pleased to release an new series of team analysis content, highlighting several, interesting, program rosters, across the Division 1 landscape, from the blue blood perennials, to the overlooked, innovative, and eclectic, programs !

The first review will focus on the Boston College Eagles, of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Although the conference continues to be an absolute juggernaut of the best players and coaches, at the entire collegiate level, the Boston College Eagles, do have a significant amount of upside to look forward to going into this season. The program, not only returns seven of it's sixteen man roster, nearly half, but also made some intriguing, and noteworthy additions in the portal, and through international recruiting. There is a lot of upgrade to note, upon reviewing the roster, and the combination of the Transfer Portal additions of, Jason Asetoma, the Sophomore transfer, from Baylor, who was a Consensus Top 100 Prospect, in the class of 2024; Aidan Shaw, the Senior who spent his prior years at Mizzou, but never quite found the right role for himself to expand his performance, similar to his HS Top 100 days for the class of 2022, in which he was also ranked one of the top players in his state of Kansas; Boden Kapke, the Junior from Butler, a stretch power forward / big, that was also one off the top ranked prospects, in the state of Minnesota, for the class of 2023; and Chase Forte, the fifth year Senior, who's "journey man" collegiate career, has accoladed him with last season's Summit League DPOY, All Conference First Team, and All Defensive Team; creates an intriguing possibility of what this team can accomplish, further this season, than the prior season.

It's not only the addition of, seasoned, collegiate caliber, reinforcements, that bring in a much, relieving, positive outlook. The inclusion of Montenegrin professional athlete, Marko Radunovic, who was stellar international prospect, not only performing strong in the 2024 Adidas Next Generation Tournament, but also putting up promising shooting splits and showing high defensive feel, on film, during this past season at the Montenegro First Division level, as well as the Junior (U-21) Adriatic Basketball League, further complements the raw potential, and intrigue, his unique addition has to offer to an roster, that is quite, eclectic in its own right. The returning members of the the program, all look to further their impact, in their signature role's, and hope to take a further leap into their on-court development. Sophomores, Luka Toews, and Kany Tchanda, who have experience playing high level basketball, internationally, with Toews making an appearance for the Japanese Men's National Team in a FIBA prequalifying tournament, meanwhile, Tchanda played at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament level, for two seasons, before coming over stateside and becoming the third best, overall, prospect from the state of Kansas in the Class of 2024, highlights how deep this roster is, on paper. Take into account, fiery & passionate, redshirt-sophomore guard, Fred Payne, as well, and all three returning players are expected to see their minutes, and usage, go up significantly, this season, as each player looks to increase their impact, in similar ways that, fellow teammate, and the current ACC Most Improved Player, Donald Hand, Jr., was able to overhaul his game, and performances, season over season.

The Eagles look to making an stride to stay competitive in an overwhelming conference. Albeit, having a low expectation from the media, in pre-conference rankings, for the ACC Preseason Poll, coach Earl Grant, embarks on his fifth chapter, at Chestnut Hill, with a reloaded group, and a developed returning unit, making a statement of the programs intent to adapt, and compete with their conference counterparts, as well as nationally. In the ever evolving landscape of collegiate basketball, building a culture, developing athletes and people, and identifying the right cohesion of talent, and character, in an constant free-agency environment, has never been as challenging of a task as it is at the current trajectory of the game. The Boston College Eagles, have made their intent known, not only are they adapting, but they have a method to their approach going into the season, and will compete in their own way.
