The Beacon Orthopedics Flyin' to The Hoop - January 2023

Silas Demary Jr. || Combine Academy (NC) || 6’5 Point Guard || C/O 2023

In his two games, he was having his way with the defense, from knocking down deep contested three-pointers but by also getting into the lane and creating opportunities for his teammates. Not only was he dishing the ball and making shots, but he was also boxing out to the point where he was taking his matchup out of the play. He was active with his hands and showed awareness, jumping the passing lanes to get steals. Most importantly, he encouraged his teammates; when they struggled, he talked to them, picked their heads up, and told them to keep hooping.

Kyle Greene Jr. || Pace Academy (GA) || 6’3 Guard || C/O 2024

He moves well without the ball but excels at attacking the rim. He showcased his ability to knock down shots from behind the arc, got to the rim and finish through contact, and even navigated through a crowd and get off short pull-up jumpers in the lane.

Jesse McCulloch || Lutheran East (OH) || 6’9 Forward || C/O 2024

Jesse was locked in from deep shooting 4-6 from the three while adding multiple defensive and offensive rebounds and a couple of blocks. He also did a good job carving out space on the block and showed solid footwork and touch around the rim. His ability to score drew attention so that he could facilitate for his teammates from the block and high post areas.

Carmelo Adkins || Western Reserve (OH) || 6’3 Guard || C/O 2023

Carmelo is a quick guard with a nice shot from the perimeter; he knocked down four three-pointers in total. He has a shifty handle, which allows him to keep the defense off balance while creating shots for himself in the mid-range and the lane. Carmelo also displayed solid body control/strength as he connected on several shots in the lane while absorbing contact.

Lance Hayes || St. Vincent St. Mary (OH) || 6’5 Guard || C/O 2023

He scored most of his points from the mid-range, making shots off the dribble, off the catch, and using face-up footwork to create space. He was active on the defensive end picking up three steals and turning them into transition points for his team. He was a mismatch nightmare; when bigs guarded him, he put the ball on the floor and went around them; when smalls defended him, he took them to the post and shot over them.

Del Jones || Huntington Prep (WV) || 6’2 Guard || C/O 2024

Del did a good job finding open teammates throwing them alley-oops, and finding his shooters behind the three-point line. He scored from all three levels, knocking down catch-and-shoot threes, pull-up free-throw line jumpers, and floaters in the lane. He picked up a couple of steals and a big weakside block on defense.

Devin Royal || Pickerington Central (OH) || 6’7 Forward || C/O 2023

With his size, he was bigger than most of his matchups so that he could muscle his way through defenders and contact. He did a good job stretching the floor with his ability to knock down jumpers from behind the three-point arc. He also did a good job in pick-in-roll action as a lob threat. Defended multiple positions, contained ball handlers on the wing, and mixed it up on the interior with the bigs.
