Play-By-Play Classic - Dec 17, 2022

Isaiah Elohim || Sierra Canyon (CA) || C/O 2024 || 6’4 Forward

Elohim showed he has the athleticism and the ability to explode to the rim off the bounce. Elohim started aggressively with a transition alley-oop; on the next possession, he leaked out off a made basket and cut to the rim, attempting to dunk but got fouled hard. He had another opportunity to get out and push after a make, going strong to the hoop for the one-hand dunk.

Devin Royal || Pickerington Central || C/O 2023 || 6’7 Forward

Royal showed his ability to handle the ball and created shots in isolation situations. He read the passing lanes well, jumping out for a steal and uncontested transition dunk. He also showed the ability to carve out position in the post and use quickness to spin around the baseline for easy dunks. Royal showed his motor and awareness to steal an offensive rebound and score on a quick two-hand dunk before the defense could react.

Dulguun “Tommy” Gankhuyag || Centerville || C/O 2023 || 6’7 Forward

Gankhuyag is a lengthy forward who showed his versatility as a defender by moving his feet on the perimeter and challenging shots at the rim. He also showed he has touch to score in and around the lane, along with the ability to step out and hit a face-up mid-range jumper.

Gabe Cupps || Centerville || C/O 2023 || 6’2 Point Guard

Cupps played solid defensively with active hands and feet in his gaps and closeouts. He moved without the ball, setting up open shot opportunities for himself. He also did a good job in PnR action and finding his big rolling and hitting him on deep seals under the rim.

Devin Royal || Pickerington Central || C/O 2023 || 6’7 Forward

He operated as the primary ball handler for his team, setting up his teammates for open shots. He shot confidently from midrange and the perimeter. He consistently played through contact, drawing fouls while knocking down 12-15 free throws. Great footwork and can operate inside the arc or on the perimeter. He knows how to use his size when he’s matching up against a smaller defender, taking them to the block, and he used quickness to get past a bigger defender on the perimeter.

Dailyn Swain || Columbus Africentric || C/O 2023 || 6’7 Wing

A secondary ball handler with the ability to create for himself and set up his teammates. On the defensive end, he played passing lanes and was good as a help-side rim protector. Shoot it well from the perimeter off the catch and was crafty finishing around the basket in traffic.

Darryn Peterson || Cuyahoga Valley Christian || C/O 2025 || 6’5 Shooting Guard

He is a player with a high motor putting constant pressure on the defense attacking the rim. He shot the ball confidently, knocking down a pull-up 3pt from the wing, and a tough turnaround midrange shot out of the post with a defender in his face. He was an active rebounder, mixing it up with the bigs for offensive and defensive boards.

Marcus Johnson || Garfield Heights || C/O 2026 || 6’2 Point Guard

He shot the ball from the perimeter and showed a soft touch on his floater in the lane. He has good vision, passing several of his teammates open for shots on the move. He showcased the ability to create for himself off the dribble, attacking the lane strong, finishing around the rim, or drawing fouls.
